Marketing and Advertising Freeze at .GOV.UK and associated agencies (July 28, 2010)
If you're a Digital Agency and work for central government departments, agencies and non-departmental public bodies in the UK, you're in for a bumpy ride. The coalition has set-up the Efficiency and Reform Group (ERG) to curtail expenditure on the following activities:
1. All website and application development2. Search engine marketing, including pay-per-click
3. Search engine optimisation
4. Digital display advertising
5. Content partnerships
6. Email marketing
7. Mobile marketing
8. SMS marketing
9. Interactive online contentThere are some exclusions: recruitment for armed forces, information about paying taxes, advertising and marketing by museums and galleries, activities required by law, activities where there is unequivocal evidence that campaigns deliver measurable benefits relating directly to public health and safety.
